I have the identical bug happen. Now despite uninstalling/reinstalling multiple
times from multiple mirrors, the same thing happens. The initial loading box
comes up, but then an empty GUI shows up, the program freezes, and then quits
spontaneously.

Also had exception code 0xc0000005 occasionally.
I even tried to install a stable release of 8.4.0 again that uses the
Qt5gui.dll. That did not crash but gave me a blank GUI screen that I can
interact with - if I click on where a menu button like "File" should be, it
opens the menu. Would love to get it working again!
