    I'll take some of my uses as an example. I often send screenshots of
webpages
    to my children. Colorful webpages. To highlight the parts I want them to
put their
    attention on, I use the rectangle tool. Sometimes with text. Almost always
in red :)
    However, depending on the screenshot, I sometimes find myself with a low
visibility
    highlight making it almost blend in the colorful page.

    Having a tool to make the screenshot into grayscale would put more
highlight on
    the parts I want them to notice. Old photograph-style :) (no, sepia is not
needed ;) )
