Bug ID: 498193 Summary: Allow user to specify the default location to open in a new tab Classification: Applications Product: dolphin Version: 24.12.0 Platform: unspecified OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: dolphin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: bnerickso...@gmail.com CC: kfm-de...@kde.org Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY As a user, I would like to open all new tabs with a default starting location such as `/home/${USER}`. At present, new tabs are opened using the current tab's location. This may be undesirable in situations where the current tab is a remote location (say a SMB share) over a high latency connection. In such a scenario, the user may be faced with an excessive wait time as the remote directory is loaded even if the user only intended to open or work with a local directory in the new tab. Therefore, it would be optimal to add an option to the "Dolphin Settings -> Interface -> Folders & Tabs" section such as the following: ``` Open new tabs default location: * <user_configurable_directory> * [Default Behavior] Location of the current open tab ``` ADDITIONAL INFORMATION At first glance this looks like a duplicate of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=424988 , but the referenced commit appears to be setting the location of the new tab itself within the dolphin interface as opposed to allowing the user to set the default URL/location that the new tab opens, so it is unrelated. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
