Bug ID: 497806 Summary: Turning off "Lock after waking from sleep" and closing lid to sleep causes loss of shell Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 6.1.5 Platform: Kubuntu OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Screen locking Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: kelly.p.le...@gmail.com Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 176831 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=176831&action=edit Screenshot of issue (black area on my machine is shown as white in screenshot) SUMMARY Not sure if this is machine specific, but I've been able to repro consistently on my X1 Carbon 12gen with Kubuntu 24.10. When turning off "Lock after waking from sleep" in the screen locking settings, but setting the laptop to "Sleep" on closing the lid, the system will lose all the shell and KDE stuff when resuming (black desktop, no taskbar, etc.) but if I change things back to "Lock after waking" then the screens come back (after unlocking of course). It doesn't seem like a crash because I can change the setting back, close the lid, and reopen and it will fix itself if the setting is turned on. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Turn off "Lock after waking from sleep" 2. Set lid behavior in Power Management to "When laptop lid is closed" = "Sleep" 3. Close lid and reopen OBSERVED RESULT Applications that were open are still visible, but all the KDE stuff is gone (taskbar, etc.) EXPECTED RESULT Normal KDE stuff should still be there. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Kubuntu 24.10 KDE Plasma Version: 6.1.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.6.0 Qt Version: 6.6.2 Kernel Version: 6.11.0-13-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 22 × Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 155H Memory: 30.9 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® Arc Manufacturer: LENOVO Product Name: 21KCCTO1WW System Version: ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION As mentioned above, turning the setting back on seems to resolve this issue. Using sleep from the gear menu does NOT exhibit this issue, only closing the lid. Filing this under screen locking as the issue only exhibits when screen locking is turned off, but feel free to request a different place for this if you see fit. Screenshot shows white, but it's really black in those spots. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
