Okay, but Windows and possibly other OSs deal with this just fine. Cloning a
panel is a workaround but not a real solution. An option for mirroring the
panel properly is an important feature.

If it requires a major rewrite, then so be it. I don't think that's any reason
to close this request. This is a major deal-breaker for many users and it
should be fixed.
