Bug ID: 497552 Summary: Upgrading to KDE6 overrides users configs Classification: I don't know Product: kde Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org Reporter: david.cortes.riv...@gmail.com Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY Updating KDE from 5 to 6 forcibly changes my user configurations for several things. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install a KDE version from the 5 series. 2. Configure it to use single-click for opening files and folders, and to use the X11 session. 3. Upgrade all KDE-related software to version 6. 4. Restart the computer. OBSERVED RESULT My user configurations are overwritten without my consent: files and folders are set to open with a double click instead; and the default session is wayland, which brings up lots of issues if my config was for X11 before (e.g. it interprets cursor sizes differently, some fonts look blurry with resolution scaling, activates different desktop effects by default, lots of other things broken under it, among others). EXPECTED RESULT Should not overwrite my user configurations without asking. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: (available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window) Linux/KDE Plasma: KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
