            Bug ID: 497193
Summary: Desktop unusable after turning off monitor when using
                    other WM
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
           Version: 6.1.90
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
          Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org
          Reporter: hiph...@posteo.de
                CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Target Milestone: 1.0

I am using Plasma with BSPWM as my window manager and recently I bought a 32"
4k monitor. When I turn off the monitor and turn it back on (via the power
button on the monitor) the entire desktop is messed up.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Connect a 4k or WQHD monitor (via HDMI in my case)
2. Use a window manager other than KWin (BSPWM in my case)
3. Boot up the OS as usual
4. Press the power button on the monitor to turn it off
5. Press the power button again to turn it back on

OBSERVED RESULT
All my windows are gone, the pager does not work, I can open new windows from
the icons-only task manager, but my keyboard does not produce any output, the
menu widgets do not work. In short, it is unusable and I have no choice other
than to press the power button of my tower to reboot the entire OS.

This affects only the UI as far as I can tell. I was recording some audio to a
file and the recording kept going even while Plasma was messed up.

EXPECTED RESULT
The desktop should be in the same state I left it in.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Void Linux (Kernel 6.6.63_1 (64-bit))
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0
Qt Version: 6.7.2
Monitor: Dell S3221QSA
Global scaling set to 150% (although I remember this happening at 100% as well)
Window manager: 0.9.10

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Entering and leaving sleep mode works fine, this is only about turning off
the monitor
- Switching the monitor to a different input source and back has the same
result, so it's not about the monitor losing power
- It used to work fine with my old full HD monitor, so this might be related to
the higher resolution
- Does not happen with Plasma 5 on Ubuntu 24.04 (that's what I use for work)
- Does not happen with KWin on X11 or Wayland
