Never seen both IRL, but it's possible, yes (but why leave remote session on and locked?). More, on most systems it's even still possible to both put the machine to sleep or shutdown it by switching to a [locked] TTY console unless these ACPI events are disabled (not the default in most cases, isn't it?).
