Ah, I was too quick to close this. It seems that the clip sometimes plays
distorted in both the clip and project monitors and sometimes it doesn't.
Weirdly enough though, what seems to make the difference, is the project
settings (yes, even for playback in the clip monitor).
If I create a new project with the standard HD 720P 30fps profile, I can import
and play this clip fine.
If I create a new project with the following settings, and import the clip it
plays corrupted:
Size: 540x960 (the resolution of the clip)
Frame rate:30/1
Pixel aspect ratio: 1/1
DIsplay aspect ratio: 540/960
Colorspace:ITU-R 709
Progressive
