String[] variable in a CMP entity bean

I need to implement in JOnAs a CMP entity bean with an array
of String as a persistence variable.
I think I must map it in a VARBINARY JDBC type, but how 
implements the get/set methods ?
Something like

        String[] a = bean.getArray();

works in JOnAs ? I need to perform some special workaround 
to deploy if ?

Somebody can point to me some experiences ?
