Candidates amy directly apply to this job on upsjobs.com UPS Corporate Campus (Atlanta, GA) JOB DESCRIPTION: Job Summary The Senior Business Information Analysis (BIA) Programmer Analyst develops and maintains UPS intranet web applications as well as researches, gathers, and analyzes data to provide accurate information and reporting for UPS departments (e.g., Business Development, Security, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Revenue Management, etc.). He/She evaluates codes and decodes to explain, organize, and present data in BIA web applications and repositories, thus allowing users to query and obtain data efficiently. This position acts as a liaison to UPS management, BIA programmers, and Quality Assurance (QA) teams to ensure testing processes work properly and to maintain, manager, and code UPS and BIA web and database applications. This position organizes temporary data files, manages data capacity to remove unused data files, and oversees SQL servers for ensuring capacity meets demands. He/She organizes data usage, supplies functions within applications and web-based tools to increase effectiveness, and maintains data research documentation to prevent work duplication. This position supervises specialists within the department. The Senior Business Information Analysis Programmer Analyst reports to the manager. Job Duties / Responsibilities and Skills Manages BIA Data and Web Application Development *
Designs and builds databases to support web applications and build foundation designs for implementation of future business rule changes. * Manages SQL programming to generate usable and meaningful data and data flow to ensure applications are readable and easily understood. * Manages front-end web language development to provide clutter-free user interfaces for accessing information easily. * Creates scalable solutions based on business specifications, knowledge, and current data to support UPS departments and senior management decision-making. Manages Business Data Requirements and Data Gathering * Harvests and analyzes data from various sources to evaluate content, consistency, usability, and reliability and to collect data for research and analysis. * Analyzes data for information and trends to establish dataset value, uncover data meanings, and identify trending for decision-making. * Acts as a data subject matter expert to ensure project teams understand data meaning and methods for extracting information. * Determines data methodology issues to identify process issues, implement processes for ensuring proper functionality, and to evaluate process methods and resources. * Evaluates process methods and available resources to create automation, build routines and schedules, and to identify data tools. * Uses data harvest methodologies to identify process issues and implement processes for producing proper codes and functionality. Coordinates Data, Server, and Web Project Planning * Summarizes resource utilization and goal timelines to support BIA senior management decision-making on department resources and expectations. * Provides UPS departments and senior management with project summaries and timelines to verify project scope compliance, documentation, and deliverables. * Conducts existing application (e.g., Delivery Information Acquisition Device, claims reporting, etc.) process improvements to organize information into usable formats for UPS departments. * Ensures space is available on hard drives for the SQL server to maintain performance and work standards and to ensure processes function properly. * Creates and maintains SQL server maintenance plans with the Database group to ensure the server is optimized and data integrity remains consistent for long-term functionality. Conducts BIA Application Production Support * Investigates user application issues to provide resolutions and to ensure applications meet user expectations. * Maintains data processes linked with multiple-source applications to ensure applications provide users with the most current data. * Supervises and delegates work assignments to resolve application issues and balance Application Development and Production Support team workloads. * Teaches business rules to users to ensure applications are utilized effectively. * Documents automated processes and business rule changes to provide application histories, ensure details are retained for future planning, and maintain programming knowledge. Supervises and Develops Others * Determines employees' training needs to produce continuous development plans. * Provides on-going feedback and support to improve performance. * Conducts performance evaluations in a consistent, fair, and objective manner to encourage continuous performance improvement. * Holds others accountable to established performance levels to achieve individual and group goals. * Resolves individual and group performance issues in accordance with UPS's policies and procedures in a timely manner to motivate and foster teamwork.
