thanks for the help, it works just fine now.
Now, can you tell me how to get rid of the icons along the sides andtop?

Under edit, go to preferences, in that top dialog, make sure fixed width
is checked. arrow down the tree to messages, tab to wrap and make sure
the radio button rap to window is checked. the next box is an edit box
for the maximum number of characters per line. I have mine set at 72;
arrow down the tree to window settings, check the first radio button by
arrowing up to it. make sure, you go to the top of the tree and check
western, and provide a good fixed width font like currior or times new
roman just to be safe.
I think things will be a bit better.
under view, go to show sub menu, arrow to the right and down through the
items; messages and folders should be checked. the rest should be
unchecked.
