I have some additional questions:
- do you have a seperate log4j.properties file in web-inf/classes of your portlet or is it the file from jetspeed/conf
- are you using log4j logger in your class or commons-logging

the property is in webinf/classes and the log is on desktop, because i'am starting tomcat from this point.
