Hi,

I hereby propose the dissolution and archival of the JDK 7 Updates Project.

Rationale: This Project hasn't had a Project Lead for more than six months [3], and no mailing list traffic in that time, either [4]. It hasn't seen a single commit go into its repository for more than 7 months. [5]

Given that there has not been any interest in the OpenJDK Community in this Project for several months, I believe that it is time to thank all the former Project Leads, Reviewers, Committers, Authors and other Participants for their many contributions over the years and to move the JDK 7 Updates Project to the "dissolved" state.

As the first Project Lead for JDK 7 Updates, it was a pleasure to have been involved in its creation, learning the lessons from the JDK 6 Project, and working together with many of you to come up with effective ways to collaborate on the maintenance of JDK update releases within the OpenJDK Community.

In a sort of historical symmetry, it's now my responsibility, more than a decade later, to initiate the steps for its archival.

With that in mind, and in accordance with the Bylaws [6], I would like to ask this Project's Committers to vote to dissolve and archive the JDK 7 Updates Project. At that point its mailing list and repository will be closed for further contributions.

Votes are due by 19:00 UTC on April 17th, 2023.[7]

Only current JDK 7 Updates Committers [1] are eligible to vote
on this nomination.  Votes must be cast in the open by replying
to this mailing list.

For Lazy Consensus voting instructions, see [2].

cheers,
