I created a similar issue at
https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/issues/161 and now linked the feature
request 721.

Think, our students will work on that.

No, not at all. The OO "plugin" has been integrated in JabRef long
ago. There is no need to install it separately any more.

The plugin on the openoffice/libreoffice side will still be supported!
- However, we might need additional developer support by the community
with it as no one of the active developers of JabRef uses the plugin.
