Thanks Rich. I have tried it before my post. When I select inbook entry type I have the following fields: Required fields: Author Editor Editor Pages Pages Publisher Year Bibtexkey This is strange and probably not normal. After reading you answer I run JabRef as another user, and when looking inbook entry fields they are different from the above. This time it has: Required fields: Chapter Pages Title Publisher Year Editor Author Bibtexkey I guess this is the normal, and my JabRef settings are probably corrupted. I have deleted jabref.xml but it had no effect. Where does JabRef store its preferences controlling entry type fields?
