Thank you. I searched through Options->Preferences but I could not find
anything relevant. In the meantime I found this:

Revision history

Version 2.10 beta (March 28th, 2013)

Added Unicode to LaTeX conversion for Medline imports (feature 721)
Added Unicode to LaTeX conversion cleanup action (feature 721)

I am afraid it is not possible to keep the original characters in jabref now
without
changing/hacking the import filter. In addition the conversion not only affects
medline
but google schoolar import too. What I wish is if I could decide whether to
apply the
conversion or not, and be able to save the database with as well as without
converted
characters.

I also added a note to feature 721 (back then) but it did not receive a
response.

I would try to change the import filter but I have no idea how to start. Any
suggestion?

Thanks,

bcsikos
