Hi! The problem is that IEEE Xplore does not provide that information in the search results file. The only way to obtain it is to download information for each paper separately, causing much more load on the server and possibly banning your IP due to multiple requests within a short time period.
Also, since that is the only additional information one would obtain by implementing separate downloads no one has found it worthwhile to spend time on (yet). However, it may happen as I also find it a bit annoying at times... In the current developmet version there is a tool to merge two items, so at the moment I download from IEEE, get another version based on the DOI (which includes the month) and merge them to obtain the month in a reasonably simple way (I will look into ways to improve it though).
