Hi,

I can't say immediately what is going on, but the difference in
startup conditions leads to some problem in initalizing a component. I
can guard against this particular exception - it will probably only
serve to delay the problem, but perhaps we could learn a little more
about what is happening. I've made a test build available here:

If you run that in the same way, see if startup completes or if
another exception appears. If startup is ok, take a look at the
selector in the second-to-rightmost position in the toolbar (for
selecting external application to push citations to). That is the one
that throws the exception, and the error indicates either that it
doesn't get filled with any entries. If it is empty we'll have to find
out why the entries don't get created.
