Mukul Gandhi resolved XERCESJ-1691.
-----------------------------------
Resolution: Not A Problem
I did some work on this issue, with Xerces source code. Although the changes
produced results fine in isolation, but simultaneously quite lot of W3C XSD 1.1
test suite results were failing (which I'm not inclined to look at, since that
is very much stable with our current code base). I've reset the code on my
local from the repos. I'm also resolving this issue as "Not a Problem". If any
other committer or PMC member wants to work on this, they may do so.
Here are two posts from the "xml schema comments" list, worth looking at that
relates to this problem.

> "delimiter" attribute on xs:list

> We all know that, xs:list element in an XSD schema requires a fixed
> whitespace as a list item delimiter in XML instance documents. I think it
> would be useful that, we introduce an optional "delimiter" attribute on
> xs:list in the extension namespace
> [http://xerces.apache.org.|http://xerces.apache.org./] This thread on the
> "xml schema comments" list might provide some motivation to this,
