I am taking a stab at this myself.
I have the sources, I am enhancing the build.xml to create copies of the
xercesImpl jar, sources and javadocs files that have a version and can be
deployed to a repository. Using Maven Ant Tasks I have a target that installs
the artifacts locally which is useful for testing. I have another target that
should deploy to the Apache staging repository. Of course, I have no access to
that, so I will get that part as complete as I can before submitting a patch.
The biggest piece left is signing the artifacts, which appears to be a
requirement for deploying to the staging repository. The build instructions
include a step about signing, but don't include enough for me to replicate.
Hopefully I will have a patch to attach tomorrow morning.
