That description was enough for me to be able to finally reporduce it.

It's fixed with commit 080aa5f612382cd1bf6e47c4322bd855ad3b4fed.

@Daniel: if you have the possibility, you could test-drive the fix with the 
2.18-SNAPSHOT version.
