The README.txt file in the distro contains some text that should be
updated/corrected:

probably just specify Windows.

Very confusing. What are we saying?
Also, the stated link http://maven.apache.org/release-notes.html should be
verified if it's the correct one. There was a recent discussion on the dev list
around the release notes not being up-to-date.
Any changes should be synced with the
http://maven.apache.org/download.html#Installation page as well.
