Caspar, for me it's also clear that it is a bug. We've also spent a lot of time
to use version ranges in our projects, and double time to remove all versions
from all projects, because of this and other version ranges bugs.
Considering the age of this ticket, and the posts made by maven maintainers
(mainly Jason van Zyl) recently, I don't think we'll have a decent fix for this
soon. The only short term solution I can see is fork, which unfortunately I
don't have resources to do.
