Anyway, what I wrote in my last paragraph is not a bug in Safari. It is a problem with your site. I think the term for this is "broken by design". I can only wonder on the mindset of a team, which puts up major hurdles for simply downloading their software, don't fix it for years, and even now call it a feature and leave it at that. I hear that maven has a reputation of making easy things complicated.
