                 Key: MASSEMBLY-613
                 URL: https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MASSEMBLY-613
             Project: Maven 2.x Assembly Plugin
          Issue Type: Improvement
            Reporter: jacques

See
http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-assembly-plugin/examples/sharing-descriptors.html

It says:Your assembly descriptors MUST be in the directory
/src/main/resources/assemblies to be available to the Assembly Plugin.

I did.

I run "mvn clean package assembly:single"

And now I have a assemblies.xml in my jar.

here my assemblies file (pretty much default):

<assembly
xmlns="http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-assembly-plugin/assembly/1.1.2";
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance";

xsi:schemaLocation="http://maven.apache.org/plugins/maven-assembly-plugin/assembly/1.1.2
 http://maven.apache.org/xsd/assembly-1.1.2.xsd";>
  <id>final</id>
  <includeBaseDirectory>true</includeBaseDirectory>
  <formats>
                <format>zip</format>
  </formats>

                <fileSet>
                        <directory>${project.build.outputDirectory}</directory>
                        <outputDirectory>/</outputDirectory>
                </fileSet>
   </fileSets>
