We have the same behaviour, as soon as the aggregate goal is called. In our
case, this arrives in the default lifecycle, since we attached the javadoc
plugin to the verify phase through a profile. When the profile is activated,
the build fails. Furthermore, failOnError , as decribed in
[http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MJAVADOC-197], has no effect here.
We use maven 3.0.4 and javadoc plugin 2.8.1.
I attach a project which should allow to reproduce the problem.
