This is fixed on master: - `maven-filtering` now ships an extended set of default non-filtered extensions (jar, war, ear, zip, gz, pdf, png, jpg, mp3, mp4, ttf, …) so binary files are skipped without any user configuration (commit 27a541e in maven-filtering). - `maven-resources-plugin` mirrors those defaults via `ADDITIONAL_DEFAULT_NON_FILTERED_EXTENSIONS` (commit 3759483), and an integration test verifying that a JAR resource is copied untouched when filtering is enabled was added in PR #529. User-supplied `<nonFilteredFileExtension>` entries are additive on top of the expanded defaults, so the original complaint (jar not excluded despite explicit configuration) is also resolved.
