it is written to: ./apache-archiva-1.0.1/bin/macosx-universal-32/archiva.pid
but this directory should be able to be read-only.
Preferably it would be written to: $PLEXUS_BASE/temp/archiva.pid (or
appropriate replacement for PLEXUS_BASE in MRM-688)
