**[Thomas Kruse](https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=everflux)** commented I prepared a fork which seems to work with Lucene 4.6 Space for stored fields is reduce by about 50% It does not work with legacy indices any more since the legacy format is not supported by the new Lucene.
