Dennis, I ran into the same issue with a repository at
g...@github.com:1and1/java-memcached-client.git. This URL seems to be
perfectly valid for `git remote`. I would be happy if you could supply an
alternative syntax for the URL for usage in Maven. [git
fetch](http://schacon.github.com/git/git-fetch.html|) gives this kind of URL as
an example as well in the **GIT URLS** section:
