Wow! Great debugging & nice find. And... mental note to self to use Apache HttpComponents (or OkHTTP) over JDK elsewhere! I can (of course) reproduce it with your `curl`. Out of curiosity I've tried using `Content-Length: 1` (CL), but that just makes at least `curl` hang.
