Is that related to `maven-plugin-testing` where the version used was `1.0.0` ? If so, I'm not sure the problem lies in tag/pom version detection, as I did fix a wrong reference: https://github.com/apache/maven-plugin-testing/commit/47317f68a8a890488fe32158f750526407a17eae Also, the log seems to indicate the problem is because it could not find a proper "last" release. I think that's because there were only "pre-release" at GH (as they are betas).
