Nice! Indeed it works. It seems documenting it was an open point of MNG-7590,
and MNG-7914 seems to fix that with [the Maven 4 configuration
page|https://maven.apache.org/ref/4-LATEST/configuration.html]. The “Switching
between transports” page could be clarified a little maybe.
