Maven uses standard Java APIs to do its job. In your case you should modify the
POM for a clean exclude. I consider it as a conceptual flaw to put such a dir
in every dir. In contrast ZFS puts its .zfs at the root of a dataset only.
Subversion did this long time ago and failed. They moved to top level.
