after discussion with [~michaelo], existing {{surefire.version}} name does not
have strong issues itself (unlike {{maven.plugin.tools.version}}, see MPOM-303)
changing its name idea was just for consistency
but I'm not in favor of changing {{surefire.version}} name in Apache parent POM
unless we have a strong reason and a good target (I find {{surefireVersion}}
not so easy to read)
then I'd be in favor of keeping {{surefire.version}} as is, and do MPOM-303 in
a consistent way
