zombie process may happen if and only if two things happen: 1. enabled TCP impl is broken (default PING mechanism does not inform surefire subprocess that Maven has stopped) 2. Maven build was interrupter/stopped in surefire/failsafe plugin. It is not so critical at the moment but it may happen.
