Hi Jason,
the POM is not rewritten anymore installing or deploying the artifact with
M2.0.5. The entities are kept in the local and remote repo.
However the issue remains with the release plugin, the modificated POMs are
invalid and also the ones used to build the release. So I guess, this issue
should be assigned to the release plugin now.
