'tag' mojo should sanitize CVS tag name so tags based on numbers with dots may
be used (and mojo will map them to acceptable form).
For example this will then work:
<plugin>
<artifactId>maven-scm-plugin</artifactId>
<configuration>
<tag>SNAPSHOT_${project.artifact.version}</tag>
</configuration>
<executions>
<execution>
<phase>deploy</phase>
<goals>
<goal>tag</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
</plugin>
for SNAPSHOT deployments for those, who needs SNAPSHOTs recored in CVS as tags.
