One idea I had is to start with a complete new set of interfaces and to let the 
current classes implement those interfaces. 
As long as others will only use the interfaces, it might help them to have 
fully modularized projects.

But don't expect that Mavens implementations will be modularized soon. The 
amount of work versus the benefit is just not worth it and they way we can 
handle classloaders works just fine.
