Here is proposed fix at TestNgProviderInfo
{code:java}
  @Override
  public boolean isApplicable()
  {
      return testNgArtifact != null && hasSuiteXmlFiles();
  }{code}

Another workaround at surefire configuration to force surefire not able to 
detect the present of testng
