The attached patch adds a property "enableAssertions" to the maven compiler
plugin.
Note, that assertions are a construct which can be found in multiple languages.
In other words, adding the property would be no harm to the language
independent approach of the maven-compiler-plugin.
This feature request depends on PLX-246.
