slachiewicz opened a new pull request, #18773:
URL: https://github.com/apache/iceberg/pull/18773

   The build uses `org.revapi:gradle-revapi` 1.8.0, a fork of Palantir's plugin
whose last release is
   from 2024; its Gradle 9 PR (revapi/gradle-revapi#18) was closed when
Palantir released
   `com.palantir.revapi` 2.0.0 with Gradle 9 support and folded the fork's
fixes back in
   (palantir/gradle-revapi#727). The DSL, the task names and
`.palantir/revapi.yml` are the same, so
   only the coordinates and the plugin id change. Part of #14094.

   Test plan: `./gradlew revapi` on Gradle 8.14.6 and JDK 21 analyzes all six
modules and passes;
   removing `Expressions.truncate(String, int)` makes `:iceberg-api:revapi`
fail with
   `java.method.removed` and the deprecation-rules message, so breaks are still
reported.

   - Prompt Summary: Prepare small Gradle 8-compatible build cleanups that
unblock a later Gradle 9 upgrade, and verify each locally.
