The sink only appends records, but `iceberg.tables.cdc-field` and `iceberg.tables.upsert-mode-enabled` from the pre-donation connector are silently ignored, so CDC updates and deletes end up as duplicate rows (#15046). This makes the sink fail at startup when either is set, as suggested in #17542.
