This is meant to be used on the write part, similarly as `dvUpdated()`
above. When creating the new entry with `MODIFIED` status using an `EXISTING`
entry, this is the way to adjust `Tracking` content such as the status or the
`modifiedSnapshotId` accordingly.
This operation might be user initiated, e.g. committing column files through
table API, or internally initiated like updating the leaf manifest using column
files, and not rewriting the leaf manifest itself.
