## Which issue does this PR close?
Related to #3281. Consolidates the two walkers present in this checkout.
The RTAS walker
from #3066 is absent and still needs integration.
## What changes are included in this PR?
- Parameterize ReassignFieldIds with a custom ID assignment strategy.
- Replace update_schema's duplicate walker with the shared implementation.
- Preserve sibling-first schema reassignment, depth-first column
additions, and repeated
placeholder IDs.
- Support both map ID assignment orders while retaining shared identifier
and alias
remapping.
- Return an error on ID overflow when adding columns.
## Are these changes tested?
- 156 focused schema and table-metadata tests passed.
- Regression coverage includes map traversal orders, custom ID selection,
metadata
preservation, placeholder IDs, and overflow.
- Repository formatting check passed.
- Clippy passed for the iceberg library and tests with warnings denied.
