   @kevinjqliu thanks, the nightly (`0.12.0.dev20260930004702`) works: create,
append, list and load against a Hive 4.2.0 metastore, and list and load against
our Hive 3.1.3 one, where 0.12.0 fails on 4.2.0 with `Invalid method name`. A
0.13 works for us, and yes please to kicking off that discussion. I'll close
#4016 and #4018.

   One gotcha: the nightly needs an exact pin. Its version sorts below 0.12.0,
so with pypi.org as an extra index `--pre` still installs the 0.12.0 release.

warehouse="file:///tmp/wh")
   cat.create_namespace_if_not_exists("probe_db", {"location":
"file:///tmp/wh/probe_db"})
   if not cat.table_exists("probe_db.t1"):
       cat.create_table("probe_db.t1", schema=pa.schema([("id",
pa.int64())])).append(pa.table({"id": [1, 2, 3]}))
   print(version("pyiceberg"), cat.list_tables("probe_db"),
len(cat.load_table("probe_db.t1").scan().to_arrow()), "rows")
   ```
