# Rationale for this change Cherry-pick of #3924 (`db5bd045`) for a 0.12.1, as discussed on that PR. Hive 4.0.1 removed `get_table` and `get_table_objects_by_name`, so the 0.12.0 `HiveCatalog` fails against Hive 4.0.1+ metastores with `Invalid method name`. ## Are these changes tested? Same tests as #3924. `tests/catalog/test_hive.py` passes on this branch. ## Are there any user-facing changes? `HiveCatalog` uses `get_table_req` / `get_table_objects_by_name_req` unless `hive.hive2-compatible` is set, as on main. `hive.hive2-compatible` is only needed for metastores older than Hive 2.3.0 (July 2017), the first release with the `_req` methods. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
