Review Comment:
   Could a shredded file reach this path? If so, return `valueResult` drops 
`typed_value` and silently returns a wrong result. Should it throw when 
`typedResult != null` instead?

Review Comment:
   `object()` is only reached for shredded variants, right? If so, returning 
valueResult silently drops the shredded fields, which seems incorrect.
