Hi @kris-gaudel, thank you so much for your enthusiasm, I would greatly appreciate your help with pushing through these changes. My thoughts are that once @kevinjqliu gives the approval to proceed with the architectural boundaries/design approach I can work on a single PR for the foundational pieces while also adding the use case for a first operation to integrate DataFusion into. Once this is fully reviewed and merged we would have the template to go ahead and work in parallel on those other operations that are require only the foundation (better described in the design doc). I also will do some more work to reanalyze to try and determine the full set of operations that would benefit from DataFusion along with their dependencies. It's worth noting that there are many existing issues/PRs that people are working on without considering DataFusion and so it would be worth reaching out to potentially collaborate with them also.
